RSC Montreuil vs Judo Club Pontault Combault: 3 – 7
Montreuil (93)
September 24, 2026
Relegated last year after four close calls in the playoffs, the club from the Seine-et-Marne region had to return to the second division to re-join the Judo Pro League this year. With a first prestigious victory on the first day itself against RSC Montreuil, semi-finalists a few months ago.
It was not meant to arrive late at the Auguste-Delaune gym in Montreuil this Thursday! From the very first sequence, Abdoul Radir Drammeh (-90kg), who this summer joined the JC Pontault-Combault from Juniville-Marnaval, launched Lucas Duchaussoy into his own style of wrestling. A powerful waza-ari at the start that he managed to maintain until the end, as did his teammate Valentine Marchand (+70kg) in the next round, which saw the world junior champion Grace-Esther Mienandi-Lahou clinch a yuko. Boosted by the announcement of his selection for the upcoming European Championships -23 years old, Yann Rigaud (+90kg) further tightened the screws for the visitors, showing more determination than Mohamed Montassar Rouahi, who launched into uchi-mata – waza-ari – before conceding a third shido.
A short-lived Montreuil surge
Montreuil could hope to stop this infernal spiral as quickly as possible with the ascent on the mat of Mireia Lapuerta-Comas (-52kg), five victories in the same number of fights last season, but it was Alice Fioretti who delivered a major performance by staying firmly in touch with the Spanish woman’s two body-to-body attempts. At 0-4, the Seine-Saint-Denis team’s margin of error was starting to narrow as skin from a broken heart, although its new recruit Maxime Moundanga (-66kg) was struggling with his debut under his new colours, as he pinned down Mohamed Lamine Degnouche. It was also on the ground that the -57kg fight between Aurore Cabanne and Lou Des Cognets–Julie was decided, with the former beautifully keeping the young Breton woman at bay to then immobilize her with yoko-shiho-gatame after having already scored two yukos on her kata-guruma.
The Pontelago recruits are in tune
With the RSC Montreuil team having recovered from the setback, it was time for Lionel Bebey to give Benjamin Gomes hope. Bebey started off with his new judogi before pushing his opponent back to the edge of the mat to collect a waza-ari. This advantage was maintained until the final bell, just as the 2025 French vice champion Mélodie Turpin (-63kg) dominated Loriane Bruhl with a yuko by insisting on her seoi-nage. JC Pontault-Combault could savour its first victory in the competition, although this did not prevent Hugo David (-81kg), who had arrived from Montpellier at the start of the season, from going all out in the final stages of the bout to trap Zackaria Belfouel, elected judoka of the year last season in the Judo Pro League, with a great inside choke. The score was indeed a bit less salty for Montreuil after the fine performance on the ground by the German Bertille Murphy against Laura Haberstock in -70kg; it was with a smile that the JC Pontault-Combault could return to Seine-et-Marne.
