Presentation of AC Boulogne Billancourt
AC Boulogne Billancourt is nothing less than one of the historical clubs of French judo. A member of the Boulogne-Billancourt multi-sports club, the judo section, founded in 1956, maintains a strong and fruitful relationship with the very highest level. Indeed, it was under its colours that Jean-Luc Rougé became the first French world champion in 1975 in the -93kg category.
In 1992, the club won a historic double at the Barcelona Games with titles for Cécile Nowak in the -48kg class and Cathy Fleury in the -61kg class, while Pascal Tayot took silver in the -86kg class. In 2013, Loïc Pietri was also crowned world champion in -81kg under the Orange et Noir colors.
More recently, Sarah-Léonie Cysique, in the -57kg class, has added two new individual Olympic medals (silver in 2021, bronze in 2024) to her prestigious trophy cabinet, after dominating Japan's Haruka Funakubo, who also won bronze at the end of the day and ... was involved with the Hauts-de-Seine club in this Judo Pro League!
A real success from the very first season
This trophy cabinet has been enriched with a new piece, and not the least. A promise kept: for its first participation in the Judo Pro League, the ACBB swept the regular season before validating its status during the Final Four, on May 16th at the Dojo de Paris. In front of nearly 2,000 spectators, the Orange and Black team prevailed over Judo Nice Métropole (6-4) in a suspenseful final, thus winning their first mixed professional team title in their history.
But the Boulogne club has not only marked the competition with its results. At home, ACBB made each of its matches a real event, supported by a roaring crowd and a well-crafted staging. A show that fully embodies the Judo Pro League’s identity, whose purpose is to bring judo to life in a different way, closer to the spectators.
" We are fortunate to have a vice president who works in the entertainment world with the greatest artists and who has brought us this creativity and this sense of show that we have adapted to judo. "
The choice of continuity
Thanks to this triumph, the ACBB approaches the 2026/2027 season with a new status: that of the team to beat. To defend its title, the club has chosen continuity, relying on the core that led it to the top, around Sarah-Léonie Cysique and Romain Valadier-Picard and their foreign judokas, Joanne Van Lieshout and the Olympic medalist Haruka Funakubo.
A team determined to keep its crown.
