Thundering during the knockout stage, RSC Montreuil was one of the metronomes of this fourth season of Judo Pro League. A competition that the Seine-Saint-Denis club intends to win in its very first participation, by putting in all the ingredients for success.
There was never really an observation round in the Judo Pro League for Montreuil; they immediately got down to business with a victorious trip in late October to Asnières Martial Arts, who finished third in the first two editions (6-3). Their heavyweight, Emre Sanal, was not mistaken when he threw his opponent for ippon in just nine seconds... A display of strength that continued against Venelles – another promoted team this fourth season – in mid-November with a commanding 8-2 victory that already placed them at the top of the standings.
A steamroller at home
The two receptions from Normandie Judo (7-2) and Auxerre Judo (8-1) were no exception to this rule, with a total of twenty-nine victorious fights that irrevocably placed them at the top of the qualifiers. Undefeated like the other three teams that will compete in the Final Four on May 16th, RSC Montreuil benefited from a third home match for the quarter-final. More seasoned than its previous opponents, Sainte-Geneviève Sports held on until 3-3, before Nacer Dahli's protégés accelerated with three consecutive points to take the win before the tenth match, which pitted Samah Hawa Camara against the very recent European vice-champion Léa Fontaine in the +70kg category.
A team of serial scorers
In each outing, Mireia Lapuerta Comas (-52kg) delivered a winning fight, earning five points, the only competitor in the championship this year to contribute them to her team. The stat line for the trio of Mattéo Giordano (-81kg)/Lucas Duchaussoy (-90kg)/Lionel Bebey (-73kg) is also worth noting, with four wins and one loss, allowing them to break into the top 5 scorers behind their Spanish teammate. This bodes well for a brilliant finish at the Paris Dojo, where RSC Montreuil will begin its ultimate quest with a semi-final clash against Judo Nice Métropole, a team that has been medal-winning every year since the Judo Pro League's inception in 2022.
