129 days after ACBB Judo's victory at the 2026 Final Four, the Judo Pro League is back. To kick off the 5th season, the draw has produced a very high-level derby: Sainte-Geneviève Sport Judo hosts Flam 91 in front of its home crowd.
Sainte-Geneviève Sport Judo (SGS) and Flam 91, two of the most ambitious teams in the region, are facing off in an Essonne derby that promises to be one of the season's major highlights. Despite the absence of several world-class athletes, both clubs are fielding top-tier teams capable of delivering great fights in every weight category. Flam 91 will unveil its new weapons with Alpha Djalo, mixed team Olympic champion, and Cédric Revol, who will be playing their first matches in the club's judogi. To score its first points in a competition still missing from its rich list of achievements, the Sainte-Geneviève club will rely on seasoned veterans like Cédric Olivar and the youthful passion of 18-year-old Audren Guenneugues, one of the rising stars to watch.
In the other matches, AM Asnières Judo will host JC Chilly-Mazarin Morangis in a matchup between two teams with a similar philosophy focused on youth and development. After missing the quarterfinals in the last two seasons, each team will have a tough task right from this opening day: a defeat would already severely compromise their chances of qualifying for the top 8.
To close out the week, RSC Montreuil, a semi-finalist last year, will kick off its season against JC Pontault-Combault, which is making its return to the elite division after a difficult first season. In its quest for the title, the team from the 93 department has opted for continuity with a largely retained roster centered around Mattéo Giordano and Lucas Duchaussoy, who shone last year. Zakaria Belfouel, voted judoka of the season last year, will also reinforce the franchise's roster.
